The Bay County Jail is located at 503 3d Street in Bay City, Michigan, a city of 35,000 people and is operated and managed by the custody division of the Bay County Sheriff’s Office under the authority of the laws of the State of Michigan. The Bay Jail holds over 150 male and female detainees of all custody levels including parole and probation violators, those awaiting trial, sentencing, or transfer to the Michigan DOC or Federal Inmates designated to the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
Bay County Sheriff’s Office law enforcement responsibilities include providing safe and secure jail bed space for inmates in the judicial process as well as securing the county courts, patrolling county parks, road patrols and warrant enforcement. As of October 2017, the current Sheriff of Bay County is Troy Cunningham.

Pursuant to a contract with the Bay County Sheriff, Securus Technology of Dallas, Texas operates inmate phone services for the Bay County Jail. The contracted cost of 15 minute in-state long distance inmate call using the Securus system is over $8.50 per call.
For as low as a 75 Cent calling routing fee, and an additional $3.15 Securus connection fee, the Michigan County Jail Call Service lowers the cost of a 15 minute In-State Inmate’s long distance and local calls from the Bay Jail down to $3.90 creating a savings of over $4.50 per 15 minute call.
The Michigan County Jail Call Service is not affiliated with Securus, Global Tel, PayTel, ICS or the Bay County Jail or Sheriff’s Department, but is able to legally, pursuant a 2013 FCC ruling in FCC Docket Number DA 13-1990, offer low cost inmate call routing services that can cut the cost of jail calls from Bay Jail, as well as calls from several county jails throughout Michigan and the United States.
